Neem is a natural herb that comes from the Neem tree. The Neem tree is native to the Indian subcontinent and most of Africa. Neem oil is derived from within the seeds of the Neem tree and is most commonly used as an insect repellent for plants – as it contains azadirachtin, which is a natural pesticide.

Neem oil is rich in fatty acids such as palmitic, linoleic, and oleic acids, which help support healthy skin and therefore Neem is a rather common ingredient in a lot of skin care products.

It is also used for reasons pertaining to hair and dental hygiene. It has many benefits, as it is antiseptic, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant and immune boosting – specifically boosting oral health. 

It is yellow to brown in colour, has a bitter taste, and a scent that is likened to garlic/sulphur.
