With its many names, Arabic gum is a natural gum that is made of hardened sap from the stems and branches of the Acacia Senegal Tree and the Acacia Seyal. These trees are native to Western Sudan, Nigeria and the Arabian Peninsula and today can be commonly found in the tropical areas of Western, Central & East Africa. It is an excellent source of water-soluble dietary fibres that promote the growth of good bacteria in the gut, and more. It has been used for many years in traditional medicines and dates as far back as the Egyptians using it as a pain reliever and also as glue. Today it is commonly found in adhesives, pharmaceuticals, inks, confectionaries and other products.
